OCI wants to do more than help a person find a job. We want to help them launch careers. That’s why OCI provides ongoing retention support services to assist individuals to be successful in their jobs. Because the first year of employment brings so many challenges and adjustments, OCI puts extra emphasis on supporting people through the first year.

The retention counselor stays in close contact with both the individual and their employer, helping him or her deal with new situations, such as changes in work procedures, working through interpersonal issues with co-workers or supervisors. OCI will provide additional training when needed or they will help an employer identify reasonable accommodations when appropriate.

In FY 2008, 83% of the individuals who secured employment, with the assistance of OCI, were still employed one year later.
